There’s something about fall that makes me want to bring all the cozy colors and textures inside for my kids to explore. One of our favorite ways to do that this season has been with this simple Fall sensory Bin. It’s inexpensive, easy to put together, and keeps little hands busy for so long!

For teachers and parents! I made this sensory bin for my 18 month old and my 4 year old! They played with it all fall and LOVED the crafts! I also put this in my kindergarten classroom and everyone always wants to play with the Fall sensory bin at centers! We are also enjoying the crafts in art center.

🧺 What You’ll Need

You don’t need anything fancy to make this. I started by grabbing a bag (or two) of black beans from the grocery store. They make the perfect base for your sensory bin!

Then, head to your local dollar store and take a walk through the seasonal section. Look for anything that feels fall-themed and fun for your littles or students. Think mini pumpkins, leaves, acorns, or tiny scarecrows.

Tip: Choose a variety of colors and textures. It makes the bin look beautiful and keeps kids engaged longer!

🎃 Add Some Learning

To sneak in a little learning, I made Pumpkin Number Cards (0–10) that you can print and use for counting practice. 6 Pages of Fall Activities!

We also love using fall coloring pages and dot painting sheets alongside our sensory bin. It’s the perfect mix of hands-on play and quiet creative time.

🥄 Fine Motor Fun

Don’t forget to add in some cups, scoops, or measuring spoons!
Your child can pour, scoop, and measure the beans, building fine motor skills while having fun.

My kids spent so much time playing with this setup, it’s a simple way to let them explore textures, practice counting, and get creative.

🍁 Why You’ll Love It

  • Easy to set up
  • Budget-friendly
  • Great for toddlers and preschoolers
  • Encourages sensory exploration
  • Promotes counting and fine motor skills

So next time you’re at the dollar store or grocery store, grab a few supplies and create your own cozy fall sensory bin. I promise your little ones will love it!
